Fire and electricity are common sources of usable light, but how bout liquids? Cristina Ferraz Rigo created a lamp which uses a liquid to produce light. In dark rooms, the liquid glows with intensity when the proper catalyst is mixed with water. Sure, it may not be conventional, but liquid light is some snazzy stuff. The catalyst used is most likely a phosphorescent material, which is non-toxic and unlike glowsticks, it has a decent “glow time” of about 20 hours. You can pick up your own phosphorescent pigment at Glowstop.com for a price of $20 for 3.5 ounces. That’ll yield you about a gallon of liquid light.
