The Mantra is a concept by designer Adam Scott that is designed to aid lifeguards in rescuing anyone in distress. The Mantra will swim underwater to the struggling victim, and will load the body onto its back, a removable stretcher. After it arrives at shore, the stretcher can be quickly removed for medical transport. Why count on lifeguards who take excessive time swimming out when the Mantra can save lives in a matter of minutes? The Mantra has a flexible body that allows it to swim naturally under water, similar to a ray. It communicates to medical centers via satellite, and is much more capable (in speed) than a human. The concept is packed with technology, but don’t expect to see this product making rescues anytime soon. Check out the detailed spec sheet for more details. [Via Dvice]
