There are a few indisputable facts in this world. The earth is round, the sky is blue and bacon makes everything better. In that vein, the self-proclaimed Bacontrepreneurs at J & D’s have come up with a baco-lutionary new product, Baconnaise. (too much baco- for you? never!) This takes the delicious flavor of bacon to a whole new spreadable, dip-able level. Channel your inner Teenage Mutan[...]

In the light of this festive season, Williams-Sonoma is offering The Giant Halloween Caramel Apple. It’s a crispy Washington Fuji apple double-dipped in handmade caramel that’s been simmered in a copper kettle until it’s rich and creamy. Then the apple is doused with a thick layer of premium dark chocolate and then rolled around in roasted California almonds. Although for those not down wi[...]

Tea drinkers are an interesting breed. Now to be sure, my experience with tea here in the United States is probably different than the rest of world. Tea isn’t part of our culture, and coffee drinkers are seen much more. But those who do drink tea, really love their tea. They’ll bring their brand of tea bags with them on trips just in case the hotel doesn’t carry the tea they drink. I’ve never heard of a coffee drinker lugging around a bag of Folger’s around with them.
Well a small company has sprouted up out of Prince Edward Island called Honibe. Honibe presents two[...]

We’ve written about outdoor BBQ/kitchen areas before, but they tend to be costly and space consuming. Now there is a portable cooking solution that is as much useful as it is well designed. The Nomad is a mobile cooking unit by Pyrolave with an instantaneous induction heating source beneath the Pyrolave glazed lava stone surface. Although this is an ingenious poolside cooking solution, it can be wheeled indoors, on a camping trip, or really anywhere you go. The induction heating source heats up instantly and the lava stone retains that heat giving your food a even heat distribution. You can prepare food quickly, and can look good doing it with the Nomad’s simple, yet striking design. It is light, ergonomically correct, and very functional. It comes equipped [...]

Sometimes, all it takes is that special ingredient to make a gourmet meal with flare. Using generic store bought ingredients sometimes doesn’t cut it. Katz & Company of Napa Valley, California creates a line of artisan vinegars that sound so delicious in combination with a wide array of foods. Use as a salad dressing, spice up a marinade, or toss some in your favorite recipe to jazz it up a bit. In 2000, Katz & Company set out to make traditional vinegars using the Orleans Method, a process introduced in Port Orleans, France in the 16th century. Basically, it is a process of combining quality Napa wines with a “starter”, which matures in oak barrels over many months. Their vinegars sound so appealing, partly because they are produced from the finest ingredients, plus they look like they are robustly exploding with flavor. To give you an idea, we will look at the AgroDulce Zindanfel Vinegar. [...]

Blacksheep, a interior design/architecture firm has designed the interior of London’s new Pan-Asian restaurant, Inamo. Inside Inamo doors, there is nothing ordinary or average. It’s a concept that is the first of it’s kind; one that incorporates a fine dining experience with interactive tables that are far more sophisticated than your standard dining table. Each table in the 60 person restaurant is a blank canvas which overhead projectors display images on. These images are displa[...]

It’s been a life long dream of mine to have a monkey butler- a friend, an assistant, or in this case, a waiter. At a tavern in Japan, two monkeys named Yat-chan and Fuku-chan were trained and given the responsibility of bringing customers hot towels and drinks. That’s right, the furry critters bring you [...]

Mmmm, Bacon. For those of you who don’t dig on swine, this post is definitely not for you. But for us pork eaters, it’s one of the only foods that is so good, that when added to other foods, it’ll always make it better. Although a common complaint of this magical meat is the mess involved in cooking it. Whether you microwave it or cook it in a pan/skillet, the bacon cooks in a pool of its own grease which is kinda nasty, not to mention disposing of it afterward. Well, WowBacon has your[...]
