Jetman Flies Across the English Channel
You read it correctly, a man known as the “Jetman” has accomplished quite a feat. The Swiss inventor/pilot Yves Rossy has become the first man to fly solo over the English Channel using his self-built set of wings and jet engine. The wings are strapped to his back, rendering him to be more of a bird than a man. When Yves is in flight, he steers through the air by shifting his legs and body, reaching speeds of 180 mph. Yesterday, his goal was to go longer and faster over the English Channel. After a 15 minute flight, he successfully flew over the Channel, accomplishing his goal, setting records, and wowing millions of people throughout the world. We are now one step closer to human flight, although chances are we won’t ever get to see it, let alone fly it. But it would be pretty kickass to do a flyby over a football stadium. [Via LikeCool]
